Welcome to the web site for Broad Horizons Theatre Company. We are a lively professional small theatre company. Our aim is to produce the best in established and new writing for touring to small and medium sized theatres, rural and school venues. All our shows aim to be suitable for adults, family audiences (with older children) and high schools.
We also offer a variety of drama workshops which can range from Shakespeare in schools to site specific work. All our workshop leaders are experienced actors or directors used to working with both children and adults.
Please check out our web site for details about who we are, our current tour, past or future productions and workshop offerings.
Judi Daykin celebrates midsummer with this lunchtime show in the Maddermarket Theatre rehearsal room. Judi works as an actor, a writer and a folk singer, so she is developing a series of these Miscellany celebration shows which aim to combine all her skills.
You should find plenty to enjoy in the Midsummer Miscellany where you can expect an original ghost story when Time Team has never seemed so shocking, poems by Dylan Thomas, Pam Ayres, Roald Dahl and John Betjeman, as well as seasonal songs – including one about beer (where would summer be without a beer or two?). Druid’s robes entirely optional!
Monday June 14th to Friday June 18th at 1.10pm.
Seats £6 (conc. £5)
By popular request the return of Miss Ruddock! We can hardly believe it is eight years since we did our first ever lunchtime show and since our audience has grown so much since those early days, we felt it was possible to repeat ourselves just this once.
Miss Ruddock writes letters. Not nice letters or friendly letters, but letters that cause trouble and get her into trouble in turn. So when she decides that the child across the road is being abused, the consequences are not at all what she expects them to be.
Judi Daykin plays the single, suburban and lonely Miss Ruddock in this Alan Bennett Talking Head, full as ever of humour, pathos and wit.
Remember to book well in advance as these shows often sell out.
Monday 25th to Friday 29th October 2010, at 1.10pm
In the rehearsal room at The Maddermarket Theatre
Tickets £6 (£5 concessions).
This is the fourth year that Broad Horizons has provided young people’s summer drama workshops for the Happing Festival. We are pleased to say that many of the young people who have been with us for previous workshops rejoin us again in following years.
We have a lot of fun, play games and make up stories, find props and costumes. Then we improvise a play for our family and friends to watch on Friday afternoon. Last year we had a puppet show with a murder mystery, a ghost hotel and St Trinian’s for our shows and a great time was had by all, so why not join us this year?
